I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch of this date (No 539).

In reply I beg to say that I have never received, nor do I think any of my predecessors have ever received, any document detailing the duties of the Crown Solicitor; it is impossible for me therefore to give any opinion in support of or against any claim for fees in Criminal prosecutions.
